FAQ

~ WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY FAQ ~

SO DO YOU TAKE ANY TRADITIONAL PHOTOGRAPHS?

Yes. While I prefer candid photography, I absolutely will still take some time to photographs the more traditional and posed portraits such as the formals.

ON AVERAGE HOW MANY IMAGES DO YOU TAKE AT A WEDDING?

I don’t set a goal or limit on the number of images I take per wedding because each event is unique, but I have never delivered less than 400 images for a wedding day. I take as many as it takes to tell the story of your day poignantly and effectively.

WHY DO SOME OF YOUR COLLECTIONS INCLUDE AN ASSISTANT /PHOTOGRAPHER?

For more efficiency! For example, the assistant can: set up the lighting for the formals if needed, help with the camera gear, assist with setting up shots, and also be an extra camera at times (one of us can photograph the bride walking down the aisle, while the other one is photographing the groom’s reaction.) A fully designated second photographer is available upon request, at a minimal fee, if not already included in your package.

DO YOU HAVE A REPLACEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER IN CASE YOU BECOME UNAVAILABLE?

Absolutely. I always have a back-up plan in place… I hope to never have to use it, but it is always there so you and I can breathe easy!

I’M SURE YOU ONLY SHOW YOUR BEST WORK ON YOUR PORTFOLIO, SO WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE FOR ME TO SEE A FULL WEDDING (ALL THE IMAGES YOU’VE DELIVERED TO A COUPLE) YOU’VE PHOTOGRAPHED?

Sure, absolutely, YES! I think it is incredibly important to see a full gallery of at least one of my weddings, as it will give you a much more accurate representation of what it is that you will receive from me. I’m happy to send links to view examples of slideshows, and/or entire proofing galleries from weddings.

DO YOU CHARGE FOR TRAVEL?

Travel within 30 miles (round-trip) of my business address is included with each collection. A travel fee of $1 per mile is charged for each mile that goes over 30 miles. Destination weddings receive a custom travel fee depending on the factors involved.

HOW DO I RETAIN YOUR SERVICES?

Signing a contract and paying a 50% nonrefundable retainer secures my services, and rates for your date(s). The remaining balance is due the day of the event date before my work starts. Once a contract is signed, my rates will not change.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH WITH?

I use a range of professional Nikon equipment digital cameras. My back up gear has back up gear! I take the picture taking business very seriously. I invest in only the highest end camera equipment to make sure that your photos come out to be of the highest quality with every shot.

WHAT KINDS OF FILES ARE PROVIDED WITH THE DIGITAL NEGATIVES?

I always provide all the best proofed wedding day images as digital negatives on a DVD. These are high- resolution jpeg files that are formatted to print up to the maximum print size available. All the proof files have had a basic edit done to them. Special edit images will be a mixture of color, black & white, sepia, and color effects. Images that are ordered for print receive a second round of editing that I call print-ready retouching. Engagement sessions receive special editing to selection of 5 images.

CAN I PRINT THE PHOTOGRAPHS THAT COME ON THE DVD?

Yes! I retain the copyright, but you will receive a copy of your Personal Printing Rights Release with your DVD so that you are able to make as many copies as you like for yourself, your family, and your friends. Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee the print quality of other labs.

HOW LONG UNTIL I GET MY DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHS?

Since I edit the photographs, and since I usually have more than 1 wedding I’m working on at a time, please expect that it will be 2-3 weeks before you receive your DVD of images. I work through each wedding’s photographs chronologically.

WHY DO YOU CHARGE MORE FOR YOUR PRINTS VERSUS PRINTING THEM OUR SELVES?

The main reason that my prints are priced higher than what a local lab would charge for a photograph is that my cost includes prints from an imaging lab that exclusively prints for professional studios so that I can assure the quality of my products. There are multiple high end paper types to choose from which include:

Glossy/Matte

Glossy is a shiny finish and prints appear brighter than Matte.

Lustre

Lustre is a premium finish on a heavier paper. It offers the vibrant colors of glossy with the fingerprint-resistant finish of matte.

Metallic

A rich, distinctive metallic look with a huge WOW! factor.

WHAT PRINT PRODUCTS DO YOU OFFER?

What would you like?…Save-the-Date announcements, custom Thank-You cards, postcards, calendars, guest-sign-in books, photo puzzles, magnets, mugs, photo tiles, photo stickers, gallery-wrapped canvases, folding canvas, floating wall prints, etc. Just ask!

WHO WILL BE THE PRIMARY PHOTOGRAPHER AT MY WEDDING?

Me! Don’t worry about booking my studio and having an associate photographer show up that you’ve never met before and whose work you’ve never seen (yes, it does happen.) The photographs on my website and all of the images on my blog were taken by me and are a true portfolio of my work.

DO YOU OFFER VIDEOGRAPHY?

YES! I have partnered with a very reputable videography company, Still Plus Motion. They are a cinematography studio that specializes and focuses on creating fine-art films. Their packages are listed about along with my photography packages. I highly recommend booking with them for your videography needs.

SO I’VE SEEN YOUR WORK, BUT WHAT DO YOUR PAST CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT YOU?

Please visit my Review page and/or my page on The Knot to see some of the love-letter’s I’ve been sent.

WHAT DO YOU FOCUS ON COVERING THE MOST THROUGHOUT A WEDDING DAY?

I try very hard to find out what matters the most to my clients and then do my best to cover that aspect of the wedding. I have my brides answer a pre wedding questionnaire that helps me be better understand you and your wants beforehand. I’m happy to stop and take guest-request photographs at any time, and I’m more than happy for you to tap me on the shoulder and point me in the direction of a favorite but shy aunt who might be hiding in a dark corner somewhere. In general though, I keep my camera focused on the bride and groom, wedding party, immediate family, and wherever the action is!

ARE YOU INSURED?

Yes, I have liability insurance. In fact, some venues require it to allow me to work on their property.

ARE YOU A MEMBER OF ANY ORGANIZATIONS?

I am a member of PPSCF (Professional Photographers Society of Central Florida
